Midthunder is one of the citizens of Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribe. Her family is of the Navajo Nation of Shiprock in New Mexico. After spending the majority of her youth at Santa Fe (where she went to the Academy for Technology and the Classics and where her mom worked at a casting company) after which she came to her home. Amber was born Native American on her father's family, and they are both an enrolled member of the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe. Amber is of mixed blood since her mother was adopted. Prey has a predominantly Native American cast, including Dakota Beavers as Naru's brother and Jhane Meyers, who played Comanche and Blackfeet and provided extensive advice to the production. Because of the time during which the movie unfolds, it wasn't feasible to choose any dog. Coco the cute animal actress who plays Sarii was chosen because of her unique breed of American Dingo. This breed, also known as the Carolina Dog, is one of the oldest breeds in existence.
The narration of TJ throughout the film revolves around Amanda as well as some could refer to his daughter.
